Parts of a Toilet - The Toilet Tank


Hello Everyone! Today we are in for a lesson on what are the parts of a toilet.

I know what a toilet looks like and how it works, you may say.

Let's test your knowledge and see how much you really know your toilet parts.

You never know when this information can help you and get you out of a tough emergency.

Ok, so, the first thing to know is that the toilet tank is the part of the toilet that servers as a small water reservoir or tank. It contains the flushing mechanism.

So, what are the parts of the toilet tank.

Inside of the toilet tank we find the chain, which is a series of metal links that connects the toilet to lever to the flapper.

The tank lever is connected to the handle. It is what lifts the rubber flapper and activates the flush.

The handle: This of course, is located outside of the tank and is used to manually flush the toilet. In modern toilets, it is often replaced by two buttons for dual flush.

The float: This is a buoyant devise that regulates the amount of water in the tank.

Fill valve: The fill valve makes sure that the tank is refilled after each flush.

Toilet flapper: The flapper is also called a flapper valve and it is a rubber flap that lifts and triggers a flush. It is located at the bottom of the tank.

Overflow tube: This is a tube that is connected to the flush valve and that helps avoid overflows.

Supply line: This is the tubes that connect the water supply to the toilet. You will often find the shut off valve by the supply line at the base of the toilet tank.

Finally, we have the toilet tank cover: This is the lid (usually heavy) that covers your beautiful toilet tank.

There you go for now. There are more parts than you probably thought, no?
